A tank made of bricks and mud, lined with plastic film is filled with organic waste. The organic matter is kept moist, so that it starts decomposing. The decomposing organic waste is leached out daily by pounding water on the waste and collecting the brown coloured effulent from an outlet at the bottom of the tank. If this water is used for watering plants, no other fertilizer is required to be given to them. The tank is topped up at regular intervals with fresh organic waste.
